One day on from the reveal of LEGO Marvel 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion, here are the highlights and the lowlights that fans have picked up on.
When it comes to what makes or breaks a LEGO set reveal, public opinion is top of the list. For a set with such a dedicated fanbase as 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion, there were always going to be strong opinions at both ends of the positive-negative spectrum.
To save you from trawling through endless social media and discussion posts, we've gathered up the top opinions shared about the upcoming LEGO Marvel modular all in one place.
The memes are meme-ing

Sure, 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion is a detailed recreation of an iconic Marvel building, combining years' worth of references and Easter eggs – but the first thing many people are looking for is simply the memes. Thankfully, the LEGO Group is leaning into this with its own recreation of the sad Wolverine meme on the set's official listing – and fans are loving it.
"What we’ve all been waiting for," said Mister_Nico on reddit in a comment that quickly became the most upvoted remark on the official discussion post.
Initial excitement abounds
The relative scarcity of X-Men sets means that sheer excitement is rife. It's not often that X-Men fans get such a detailed and sprawling build and there are several exclusive minifigures that you likely won't get elsewhere.
"I thought they’ve peaked with [76178 Daily Bugle] but the X-Mansion is INSANE," wrote CVet427 on X, underlining an opinion echoed by others across the internet that the LEGO Marvel modulars are certainly not decreasing in quality or depth.
The building itself falls flat

However, as always with any LEGO set and especially ones of this size, 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion is not free from criticism. In this case, a common point of contention is the brick-built mansion itself, with fans pointing out the lack of gardens and slightly cramped feel.
"Love the minifigs, but the building feels a little flat," said joshthor on reddit. "Though that might be ideal if you want it for a cityscape, looks like it would make a great library, school, or town hall."
Others, including us, have raised issues with the build feeling cramped, especially when compared to the depth and variety that you get in the previous LEGO Marvel modulars.
"Kind of disappointed in this, mostly by the scale," wrote earldogface on reddit. "You get two minifigures crammed into a room if you're lucky. Just need like a little bit more room. Otherwise, everything looks sick as hell."
The highs and lows of X-Mansion's minifigures

With ten minifigures, four of which are making their LEGO minifigure debuts, there's a lot to talk about when it comes to minifigure inclusion – and people are talking. For a franchise as long-running and varied as X-Men, there were always going to be characters that couldn't be included, unless the LEGO Marvel designers dedicated every single one of the 3,093 pieces to minifigures.
Fan-favourite X-Men character Jubilee was raised several times on reddit and over on X, especially as she does appear as a sticker in the Cerebro GWP that accompanies 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion. Of course, there's quite the hop, skip, and a jump over from designing a face for a sticker and designing a whole minifigure – but fans want what they want.
The main source of criticism for the X-Mansion minifigures lies with Professor X, sporting very little that helps him stand out. His face, in particular, will be familiar to some as the same used for Lex Luthor, Bruce Wayne, Loki, and others over the years. Seeing as fans have wanted Professor X for years, it seems particularly galling that the official version is very similar with no different parts to those made by custom builders for years.
Whatever your opinion on the upcoming LEGO Marvel modular, if you want to pick it up, 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion will be available to buy from November 1 for LEGO Insiders for £289.99 / $329.99 / €329.99, before going on wider sale at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores on November 4. From November 1 to 7 (or while stocks last), all purchases of the new LEGO X-Men set will include 5009015 Cerebro, a brick-built model of Professor Xavier using his mutant-detecting device.
