What's new in LEGO Speed Champions 77259 Audi Revolut F1 Team R26

LEGO Speed Champions 77259 Audi Revolut F1 Team R26 is based on the 2026 car, and all the new regulations and design choices that come with it.

The LEGO Group makes a point of noting that 77259 Audi Revolut F1 Team R26 includes "design details that comply with the updated F1 car regulations for the new season". Now that the latest LEGO Speed Champions set has been revealed, we're digging into which of these details are new in the 2026 model.

Let's start off with the one that caught our eye first: the replacement for DRS, or drag reduction system. With the feature being phased out in favour of Overtake Mode in 2026, it's also disappeared from the brick-built version of the Formula 1 car.

You can see it most clearly when you put 77259 Audi Revolut F1 Team R26 next to one of the original 10 Speed Champions cars, like 77246 Visa Cash App RB VCARB 01 pictured below. The DRS was nestled in amongst the rear spoiler, whereas this new fin is closer to the engine cover. It was there on the other cars, but now it is a lot more prominent, raised up on a round element to help it stand out more.

This angle also shows how different the silhouettes of the cars are. It's worth noting that each of the 10 LEGO Speed Champions Formula 1 sets that launched last March also had differences in shape, but 77259 Audi Revolut F1 Team R26 takes that one step further, hollowing out the lower section of the car and bulking up the side panels closest to the engine covers.

Looking at the cars from above, you can see how much more built out the central section of the car is, layering plates and curved elements for a bulkier car body. There are fewer elements dedicated to the floor fences, especially when compared to 77243 Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20. It also looks like the rear spoiler is narrower on 77259 Audi Revolut F1 Team R26, tucked in within the width of the wheels rather than being slightly overlapped.

Speaking of the wheels, the axles have less building on and around them. It's hard to say whether that's something unique to Audi or a wider change for 2026, but it does leave the wheels looking rather exposed, especially when viewed from above.

Moving to the other end of the car, it appears that the front wing element has been replaced with a brick-built wing. A combination of wedges, plates, and angled elements comes together to form the nose of the car, perhaps to allow for more finetuning in the shape than a moulded front wing element does.
