New concept art and a title for an upcoming Mandalorian movie have been revealed, as well as an update on the making of the film.

Lucasfilm has officially confirmed that Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni are working on a The Mandalorian movie that will be titled The Mandalorian & Grogu. The film is going into production later this year.

On top of this announcement, new concept art for the movie has been revealed, featuring the iconic pair flying away from an exploding flying vessel.

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Jon Favreau. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”

"Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen," added Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.

Lucasfilm announced a Mandoverse crossover movie alongside two other Star Wars movies at Star Wars Celebration 2023. This includes one featuring Rey set after The Rise of Skywalker and another at the opposite end of the timeline, telling the story of the first Jedi. The Mandalorian & Grogu and the Mandoverse film are two separate projects as the former will lead the upcoming cinematic slate.

No release date has been named for the movie at the time of writing but with production starting this year, it may be around a year or possibly more before it hits the big screen, judging by previous Star Wars movie timelines.
