Prequel fans are likely to be singing the praises of Star Wars: The Acolyte when the first two episodes of the show start streaming later today on Disney+.
This will be a day long remembered, as Star Wars: The Acolyte will finally make its debut on Disney+. The latest live-action TV show to be set in a galaxy far, far away takes place during the High Republic era, 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace.
Created by showrunner Leslye Headland, Star Wars: The Acolyte’s cast includes Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

The first two episodes of Star Wars: The Acolyte are due to drop at some point later today, (at the time of this writing) and will present fans with a new cast of Jedi and Sith characters, alongside an intriguing murder-mystery storyline and some serious Kung Fu fight sequences.
The show is already receiving praise from many quarters, with Slashfilm stating that the series brings a love for the prequel films to Star Wars: The Acolyte. “It feels like it exists in that same universe and that the Jedi are finally on the edge of the precipice that will lead them to a path of destruction thanks to the Sith's grand plan.”

TheWrap declares that Star Wars: The Acolyte has, “serious prequel vibes,” and that, “this is also the rare-so-far Star Wars show that doesn’t feel like its first job is to revive a bunch of beloved iconography. Those returns and call-backs can be plenty of fun for the initiated; it’s even more exciting, though, not having much of an idea as to where The Acolyte is headed.”
However, it’s not all positive reviews for Star Wars: The Acolyte, as Empire only gives the show three stars, stating that its characters are, “thinly drawn, often weighed down by overly functional dialogue,” and that it’s, “not the bold stride forward we’d hoped for.”

The LEGO Group has yet to announce any sets based on Star Wars: The Acolyte, although other series such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka did eventually spawn their own models and minifigures.
The first two episodes of Star Wars: The Acolyte will be available for all Disney+ subscribers to stream later today and will then be released weekly from June 11, 2024 onwards.
