A simple tweak has got us scratching our heads about how to iron out one of the only wrinkles in LEGO 77256 Time Machine from Back to the Future.
When we had 77256 Time Machine from Back to the Future to review, we named it one of the best January 2026 sets – and there was a lot of strong competition. We stand by that claim, as proven by it quickly going on back order or even selling out at LEGO.com upon release.
That said, things are really 100% perfect, and one redditor has pointed out a tweak that we now can't unsee. bananapeeljazzy posted a new version of the bonnet on reddit, one that removed the gap in the windshield that exists in the official build. The bottom of the windscreen now sits just on top of the bonnet, as seen in the photo on the right, keeping it flush.
This is achieved by switching out the larger tiled element for narrow ones, then using studded angled pieces to create a shape that's closer to the windscreen. Now, however, you've got a bonnet that appears less smooth, with more exposed studs.
Obviously, these are the most minor of nitpicks, but it's a fun exercise in experimenting with what tweaks you can continue to make to LEGO sets, even at Speed Champions scale, to refine them to your tastes. After all, that's what LEGO building is all about. Let us know which option you would choose down in the comments below.
LEGO Speed Champions 77256 Time Machine is available to buy now for £22.99 / $27.99 / €27.99.
