Retiring LEGO sale sends multiple sets out of stock early

The LEGO Group launched a sale on retiring sets this week, and that appears to have sent some sets into a permanent early retirement.

The retiring sale is still on at LEGO.com, but it might be too late for some sets discounted in the US. LEGO Ideas 21341 Disney Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters' Cottage, LEGO Marvel 76191 Infinity Gauntlet, LEGO DC 76274 Batman with the Batmobile vs. Harley Quinn and Mr. Freeze, and LEGO Star Wars 75393 TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up have all switched to 'out of stock'.

While only the first was discounted in the sale, the number of sets going out of stock should be a timely reminder that retiring sets don't always stick around until the end of the year. During sales and promotional events like double points periods, LEGO sets can sell out faster than you might expect.

If there's a retiring set on your wishlist, don't risk waiting until the very end of the year to pick it up. There are plenty more retiring models that have gone temporarily out of stock in both the UK and the US, including 75304 Darth Vader Helmet, 76391 Hogwarts Icons - Collectors' Edition, and 76440 Triwizard Tournament: The Arrival.

That gives you a sense of which sets might have lower levels of stock. Judging from what products are selling out, it seems especially urgent to pick up retiring sets from licensed themes like LEGO Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, and DC, as those are selling out faster than other. You can remind yourself of everything retiring this year in our latest update, or find the retirement dates for every single set here.
