Following the official reveal of 76210 Hulkbuster, here’s the lowdown on every LEGO Marvel Mark 44 Iron Man armour created so far.
Co-designed and built by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner as a deterrent to deal with a potentially out-of-control jade giant, the Mark 44 Iron Man armour is more commonly referred to as the ‘Hulkbuster.’ Making its debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the gigantic metal suit is equipped with all manner of anti-Hulk weaponry that allows Stark to go toe-to-toe with Banner’s gamma-powered alter ego.
Whilst next month’s upcoming arrival of 76210 Hulkbuster certainly represents the largest version of the bulked-up MCU armour to date, it’s definitely not the first LEGO Hulkbuster set to be released. Here’s the full rundown of every LEGO Marvel Hulkbuster model created so far:
6 – 76031 The Hulk Buster Smash
The first iteration of the Hulkbuster (or Hulk Buster) armour arrived in 2015 with a 248-piece build that included minifigures of Iron Man in his Mark 43 suit, the Scarlet Witch and Ultron Prime, plus a Hulk bigfig. Although fairly basic and blocky, this Hulkbuster was certainly off to a good start, with room inside for a minifigure and some impressive articulation.
5 – 76104 The Hulkbuster Smash-Up
The next Hulkbuster set was launched in 2018 and featured a brick-built version of the armoured suit that was surprisingly in scale with its included minifigures. Bruce Banner, the Falcon, Proxima Midnight and an Outrider with gun turret mini-build were all available as part of the 375-piece set, with the model released as part of a LEGO Marvel wave that accompanied the arrival of Avengers: Infinity War on the big screen.
4 – 76105 The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition
Also debuting in 2018 was the much larger 76105 The Hulkbuster: Ultron Edition. The 1,363-piece build towered over the previous version and boasted multiple accessories such as a small Veronica satellite, two interchangeable arms, a light brick, a display stand and an information plaque. The impressive model also included an exclusive Iron Man Mark 43 Armour minifigure that’s only ever been available with this set.
3 – 76164 Iron Man Hulkbuster versus A.I.M. Agent
Although not based on a specific Marvel Studios movie, this 2020 build does offer an impressive variant of the Hulkbuster, even if its exaggerated proportions might be a little off-putting to some older fans. The set features a poseable version of Stark’s towering armour, complete with shoulder missile launcher that can accommodate a minifigure. Rounding out the set are minifigures of Iron Man, Rescue and two A.I.M. Agents with a jet pack accessory.
2 – 76194 Tony Stark’s Sakaarian Iron Man
Dropping in 2021 and also appearing in an episode of the animated What If…? series on Disney+, 76194 Tony Stark’s Sakaarian Iron Man isn’t technically a Hulkbuster set. Despite the model featuring a style based on the mighty mech, the armour is never referred to in the show as being a Hulkbuster, even if the official description of the set does mention it by name. The model can be rebuilt as a race car and the set includes minifigures of Tony Stark, Valkyrie and The Watcher.
1 – 76210 Hulkbuster
The latest version of the Hulkbuster arrives in just a few short weeks, making it the largest and most-expensive LEGO Marvel set released to date. 76210 Hulkbuster stands a whopping 52cm tall and boasts multiple light bricks, a stickered UCS-style display plaque and an exclusive Tony Stark minifigure. The massive model is also compatible with 76206 Iron Man Figure, allowing the recently-released set to be slotted into the larger build if so desired.
In addition to the models listed above, the Hulkbuster armour also appeared as a playable bigfig character in the LEGO Marvel’s Avengers video game and as a mech in the first LEGO Marvel Super Heroes game. However, there’s never been a physical version of the bigfig released in any LEGO set so far, although a smaller scale version of the character would certainly have some appeal.
76210 Hulkbuster will be available to all VIP members from November 4, with a wider release for everyone else on November 9. The latest LEGO Marvel Infinity Saga set is priced at £474.99 / $549.99 / €549.99.
