LEGOLAND Windsor crowns its very first Miniland Mayor

LEGOLAND Windsor has named its very first Mini Mayor of Miniland London, turning her design into a LEGO model in the brick-built skyline.

LEGOLAND Windsor Resort has announced 13-year-old Skye Shepheard from Canterbury as the winner of its nationwide competition, making her the very first Mini Mayor of Miniland London. Her design for a vision of greener, more sustainable version of the UK capital has now been recreated, taking the model makers 63 hours and more than 10,000 bricks.

The new look has been implemented in the London section of Miniland at the resort, including updated versions of modern London buildings like the Gherkin, City Hall, and the Cheesegrater. Skye's design will be on display for guests to see until October 2025.

"I’m so excited to become the first Mini Mayor of Miniland London," said Skye. "I entered for fun and because I feel strongly about making the world greener. I love LEGO and am very passionate about the declining state of our planet. Not a lot of cities are green, so I wanted to use this opportunity to design the London of the future, which is greener and more sustainable than it is today. I never thought my design would win and am so happy it has!"

Skye’s winning design features seven brand new buildings which form London’s iconic skyline, including the Cheesegrater, City Hall, and the refurbished Gherkin. It also features greener versions of various familiar London sights.
