LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is the UK’s best-selling game again

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has rocketed back to the top of the charts, reclaiming its title as the UK’s best-selling game 16 months on from its initial release.

TT Games’ saga-spanning effort shot straight to number one in the UK charts when it debuted in April 2022, and held its position for a second week despite a 70% drop in physical sales. The Skywalker Saga then returned to pole position in July last year following Amazon’s Prime Day sale, in which the retailer slashed the price of the game for the first time, and it’s similar circumstances that have propelled it back to first place this week.

Sony has finally caught up to the demand for PlayStation 5 consoles worldwide, which means we’re starting to see bundles and discounts offered by retailers. One of those bundles included LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga as standard – prompting a huge 116% jump in sales for the ambitious game, reports Games Industry (via GfK), knocking FIFA 23 down to second place in the process.

Other first-party PlayStation titles (bundled with consoles) saw similar boosts, including God of War Ragnarök, Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Gran Turismo 7. According to Nintendo Life, PS5 copies of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga contributed to 74% of the game’s sales, while the Switch only represented 23% of its overall sales last week. In short: TT Games has Sony to thank for its renewed success.
