LEGO teams up with Ke Huy Quan for new The Goonies set

Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan has been brought on to help promote the LEGO Ideas The Goonies set, based on a film in which he played Data.

The LEGO Group has partnered with Ke Huy Quan, who played Data in The Goonies, to help showcase the newly-revealed LEGO Ideas set based on the film. The actor stars in a new mini-film tribute available to watch on the listing for 21363 The Goonies.. The actor takes a closer look at the set’s traps and some hidden easter eggs in the video, all while sharing personal memories from his performance. The video has been re-uploaded to YouTube by Bricktastic.

“Revisiting Data after all these years - but this time in LEGO form - has been such a joyful experience," said Ke Huy Quan. "The Goonies was all about heart, adventure, and friendship, and this set captures that spirit in fantastic detail. From the booby traps to the treasure room, it’s like stepping back into the tunnels with the gang - only now, I get to share that magic with a whole new generation of fans.”

To celebrate the reveal of the new The Goonies set, the original LEGO Ideas user behind this model commented on the final design and their memories of the film.

“In designing this set, I revisited my childhood memories - growing up in the 80s, playing with LEGO Pirates sets and watching The Goonies,” commented fan designer Vaggelis Ntezes (Also known as Delusion Brick on LEGO Ideas.

“Combining nostalgia, fantasy, and creativity, I wanted to build something that offered both playability and display value. The final design merges the legendary Inferno with the cave system and booby traps, capturing the spirit of adventure that made the film so unforgettable. I’m thrilled to see it come to life and hope it brings joy to fans old and new.”

LEGO Ideas 21363 The Goonies is launching on November 1 for LEGO Insiders or November 4 widely, and will cost £269.99 / $329.99 / €299.99. The 40773 The Goonies: The Walshes' Attic gift-with-purchase will be offered exclusively with the set throughout the early access, before launching widely alongside the set and lasting until November 7, or while stocks last.
