LEGO Star Wars SMART Play’s smallest details may broaden its appeal

While five new LEGO Star Wars SMART Play sets may be squarely aimed at kids, a few small inclusions may just make them appealing to adults too.

More LEGO Star Wars SMART Play sets were revealed this week, with five additional models joining three previously revealed 'All-in-one' builds launching on March 1, 2026. Despite the LEGO Group aiming the sets at a younger target audience, a handful of details in some of the upcoming models may just be enough to persuade some older collectors to pick them up as well.

Beneath all of the SMART Play bells and whistles, a trio of those five LEGO Star Wars sets contain a few interesting minifigure prints and parts that might appeal to those who aren’t really bothered by the flashy interactive functionality of the models.

For instance, 75420 Luke's Landspeeder includes a Jawa minifigure, which at first glance may seem like nothing new. However, taking a closer look at the Tatooine scavenger reveals it has an all-new torso print, giving the character its first refresh in several years.

Then there’s 75425 Mos Eisley Cantina, the first LEGO Star Wars set to focus on the cunning hive of scum and villainy since 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina in 2020. Although the SMART Play model is obviously nowhere near as impressive or expansive as that Master Builder Series release, nor does it boast 21 minifigures, at least one of its denizens is brand-new.

75425 Mos Eisley Cantina includes a sandtrooper variant that makes its debut in the LEGO Star Wars build, one that appears to feature revised weathering patterns on the Imperial’s white armour, including helmet, torso, leg and toe printing.

The sandtrooper also swaps out the usual black cloth pauldron of previous versions to go with a plastic element, last seen in a decorative form in two LEGO Star Wars sets from 2025, 75431 327th Star Corps Clone Troopers Battle Pack and 75435 Battle of Felucia Separatist MTT.

While 75425 Mos Eisley Cantina’s £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 price point might be too off-putting just to obtain one minifigure for army building, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the updated character pop up in more LEGO Star Wars releases at some point in the future, but that’s pure speculation for now.

Finally, there’s 75422 Yoda's Hut and Jedi Training and 75424 AT-ST Attack on Endor, which don’t so much as include new minifigures for fans to get hold of as they deliver something slightly odd we've not seen done with certain characters to date.

75422 Yoda's Hut and Jedi Training and 75424 AT-ST Attack on Endor come with SMART minifigures of the Jedi Master and Wicket the Ewok, both of which have short moveable legs, representing a first for the diminutive characters. That does of course also make them almost as tall as the standard size minifigures in each set, but they're a welcome addition nonetheless, at least in terms of poseability.

It’s worth noting that none of the sets mentioned above include a SMART Brick, nor do 75424 AT-ST Attack on Endor or 75426 Millennium Falcon, so you’ll need to add 75421 Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter, 75423 Luke’s Red Five X-Wing or 75427 Throne Room Duel & A-Wing to your shopping lists too in order to get the most functionality out of them.

All eight LEGO Star Wars SMART Play builds will be arriving on March 1, 2026 and are available to pre-order right now.
