LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy Season 2 is surprisingly relevant

The second season of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy is now streaming, and it's a shockingly relevant special thanks to an upcoming build.

All four parts of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past are out now on Disney+, ready for some weekend viewing. Without delving into major spoilers for the new special, the first part offers a drastic departure compared to the many other animated LEGO Star Wars specials from years gone by. We'll be mentioning a spoiler for the first episode from this point onwards.

As you would expect, there are dozens of real LEGO Star Wars sets scattered throughout Pieces of the Past, but most of these are from 2024 or earlier. There's one extremely recent entry, though, and it's used for much more than a cameo. 75419 Death Star has a big role in a unique sequence in the first episode, following its reveal just over two weeks ago.

That's extremely fast compared to most other LEGO Star Wars sets, which usually take at least a year to be seen in specials. This may be because of the time needed to produce the specials, and aims to stop future products inadvertently appearing online during the production process. That evidently wasn't a concern with 75419 Death Star, though.

The $1,000 LEGO Star Wars set is featured in a one-shot animated sequence in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy – Pieces of the Past. It seems incredibly unlikely that this sequence was animated and voiced in the past two weeks. Notably, there are a few differences between the model seen on the screen and the one landing on shelves next month.

There are no stickers in the 75419 Death Star seen in the animated special, and some of the brick-built backgrounds in the rooms differ from those of the real build. Despite these differences, it's surprising to see that such a massive model has appeared in a LEGO Star Wars media project so quickly. 75414 The Force Burner Snowspeeder is similarly recent and also appears in the special, but its intrinsic connection to this specific story makes its appearance more understandable.

75419 Death Star launches on October 1, 2025, for LEGO Insiders and from October 4 for everyone else for a record-breaking £899.99 / $999.99 / €999.99. Head here for what's now a complete list of LEGO Star Wars 2025 sets. You can watch all four parts of Pieces of the Past now for a look at the alternate 75419 Death Star, as well as several references to Star Wars and LEGO history.
