LEGO Star Wars has had many attempts at depicting the scourge of Tatooine's sands but an August 2024 build has almost perfected the Sarlacc.
The first LEGO Sarlacc Pit is featured in 2006's 6210 Jabba's Sail Barge and since then, has moved to be a permanent side build in the various LEGO Sand Skiffs that we've seen throughout LEGO Star Wars' past two decades. Unfortunately, they've all been lacking one major aspect of the iconic creature – a size worthy of the Sarlacc.
Thankfully, one of the newly revealed August 2024 LEGO Star Wars sets is about to change that with the biggest Sarlacc Pit build to date. You can find out more about this sandy subject in our latest YouTube video.
The Sarlacc has been featured in five LEGO Star Wars sets to date, one of which is a minuscule model in the 2015 Advent Calendar. Every time, the Sarlacc hasn't taken up much of the piece count compared to the rest of the contents.
In 75396 Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit, the pit appears to take up around half and possibly more than half of the overall piece count, emphasising the surrounding sand compared to previous depictions and making for the most impressive recreation of the creature (or a small part of it) to date.
75396 Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit launches on August 1 for £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 with 558 pieces and six minifigures, including the first-ever Nien Nunb for the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars.
