An early review for this LEGO Star Wars 2024 battle pack suggests an exciting direction for LEGO Star Wars coming in the new year.
75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack sees a return to Super Battle Droids for the first time in seven years. It also features a redesign of an Octuptarra droid, with a much more substantial design for its trio of legs. Although 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack isn't out until January 1, 2024, LEGO YouTuber RichboyJhae has already managed to pick it up at Walmart – and uploaded a full review of the 215-piece battle pack.
This includes an in-depth look at all of the minifigures and the tri-droid itself. While each buildable element of the battle pack is impressive, the main takeaway is that it marks a more substantial take on battle packs in general.
"This feels like the first battle pack that LEGO has released that feels worthy of the name battle pack," concludes the LEGO YouTuber, reasoning that most battle packs only offer one side of the battle.
Of course, this does come with a slightly higher price tag than previous battle packs. The most recent LEGO Star Wars battle pack, 75359 332nd Ahsoka's Clone Trooper Battle Pack, was just £18.99, compared to 75372's £24.99. However, that represents just over 100 extra pieces – and that goes a long way.
As noted by RichboyJhae, 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack goes far beyond depicting one side of the battle, or both sides in a shallow way. The battle scene appears properly balanced, with each army being evenly matched, if not in terms of numbers, then in terms of firepower (as much as you can within the enormous tri-droid). It's substantial enough to display on its own, with enough detail in each respective part to work well backing up a larger battle scene as well.
It's probably unlikely to expect every LEGO Star Wars battle pack to be just as detailed moving forward. Indeed, keeping smaller battle packs more affordable is still a must. However, mixing up a larger, more detailed battle pack every now and then for special battles, such as the Clone Wars as in 75372, or perhaps future battle packs for Endor, the Battle of Exegol, or any number of other iconic Star Wars moments.
LEGO Star Wars 75372 Clone Trooper & Battle Droid Battle Pack will retail for £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99 from January 1, 2024.
