LEGO Star Wars Ahsoka’s T-6 Shuttle mods show us what could have been

The LEGO Star Wars community is already coming through with inspired mods for 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle, showing what might have been with a little extra budget.

The cheapest and most accessible of the three LEGO sets tying into Disney+ series Star Wars: Ahsoka, 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle recreates the ex-Jedi’s personal transport at a much smaller scale than we see it on screen. The cockpit only has room for one minifigure, there’s no real interior to speak of, and the underside of the ship is completely unfinished, omitting the dark red elements of its top side.

‘Underside’ might be the wrong word to describe a ship that involves spinning as its central feature (so, more than just a neat trick), given you’re going to see it just as much as the other side during play. Remedying that flaw has obviously been top of the list for LEGO Star Wars fans, but early mods on Rebrickable have also tackled other areas of the set as it comes in the box, building on and adding to the basic model.

User ron_mcphatty has assembled a 37-piece stand for the ship to display it vertically, for example, which isn’t included as standard with 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle. The inventory on Rebrickable includes 46 elements, with the extras used to swap the orientation to display the shuttle pointing left or right. But if you choose to point it right, you’ll need to do something about the opposite side of the wing.

For that, we can turn to one of two different designs by iTavix and PiXEL-DAN. Both of these modifications swap out the official set’s light grey hue for white, and offer different levels of improvement depending on how much you want to transform the original model (and your budget). iTavix’s mod adds 194 pieces on to the 599 included in 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle, changing its colour, improving the blank side of the wing and recreating its stickered details with bricks.

If you want to take things a little further, PiXEL-DAN’s beefy mod uses a total of 1,376 pieces – 489 from the set, plus an additional 867 – to transform the shuttle into effectively a mini Ultimate Collector Series set (or, more accurately, a mini version of the builder’s own supersized T-6 Shuttle). Like iTavix’s build, this one swaps out grey for white and improves the wing design, but also makes the ship a little bit bigger and smooths out its studs for a more polished final model.

PiXEL-DAN estimates you’ll need to spend roughly $80 on top of buying 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle to replicate their mod, so you can immediately see why the LEGO set doesn’t look like this right out of the box: as great as it is, it would have pushed the price of the set up to the levels of 75357 Ghost & Phantom II and 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship.

That would have been beyond the realm of affordability for most, which would have been a shame when 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle’s minifigures are so perfect (this is the only one of the three new sets to include Ahsoka herself). But these Rebrickable mods mean those who are prepared to stump up the extra cash can do so. That’s the beauty of LEGO…
