Your LEGO Speed Champions Formula 1 sets might be accurate longer than you'd think

The Formula 1 75 livery launch gave us our first look at the 10 teams' cars ahead of the 2025 season – and it all felt quite familiar.

The downside of the lead time on LEGO sets means that, for waves like the LEGO Speed Champions Formula 1 collection where the models are based on real-life vehicles that change in look every year, you only have a short window where they're accurate. In the case of the 10 LEGO sets coming out on March 1, they're based on the 2024 liveries. By the time you can actually build them, they're already out of date.

Except – not really. Looking at the livery reveals at the Formula 1 75 special event at London's O2 on February 18, a lot of the cars look awfully familiar. With the exception of Alpine and Racing Bulls, the liveries have stayed largely the same, all the way down to a lot of the sponsor placement for cars like McLaren and Red Bull.

In the case of Alpine, they've gone a whole lot brighter in 2025, with more splashes of pink and blue to offset the black bodywork that many fans were unimpressed with last year. For the Racing Bulls, the team has revealed what appears to be a reverse image of the Red Bull livery, replacing dark blue with white for a look that cements its place as the second RB team.

While the rest of the grid has made the slightly boring choice of keeping a very similar livery this year, it's excellent news for Speed Champions collectors who want their builds to hold true throughout the year. There are admittedly some changes for 2025: Ferrari as a brand name appears to have vanished from their race car to make way for some white HP branding, for example – but the 2024 look is arguably a better one anyway.

Safe to say, the changes aren't impressive or glaring enough for the majority of the cars to mean you're going to be feeling put out by out-of-date liveries this year.
