LEGO SMART Assist app available ahead of Star Wars sets launch

The LEGO SMART app is now available to download for free, ahead of multiple new LEGO Star Wars sets releasing on March 1, 2026.

Eight new LEGO Star Wars sets will be launching on March 1, 2026, each of which features interactive LEGO SMART Play features such as lights, sounds and vibrational feedback. Alongside those physical models is LEGO SMART Assist, an accompanying mobile device app that will help to support and enhance such builds and is already available to download for free from today.

LEGO SMART Assist offers a whole host of functionality, allowing builders to dive deeper into the LEGO SMART Play world, manage their SMART Bricks and even gain some degree of control over the high-tech block.

Once LEGO SMART Assist has been downloaded, users will first have to place their SMART Bricks on the SMART Charger (a maximum of two at a time) and then add them to the app. A two-and-a half-hour boost will fully charge a SMART Brick, with a green light on the element confirming its status. A yellow light denotes half full, orange is low, and a red light and ‘di-dum’ sound indicates that it's empty.

Fully charged SMART Bricks can be played with continuously for about two-and-a half-hours before they require more power. SMART Bricks go to sleep after three minutes if left idle and require a good shake to wake them up, while those left alone for more than 13 hours will require placing on the charger to be reactivated once more.

The LEGO SMART Assist also allows users to change the volume of paired SMART Bricks (and up to three devices), see their status , set a unique name for the interactive elements, and register SMART Bricks with a LEGO Insiders account to benefit from member rewards.

In addition, there’s mention in the LEGO SMART Assist notes that the app will allow users to update their SMART Bricks, adding future undisclosed functionality to their LEGO SMART Play sets at some point down the line.

LEGO SMART Assist can be downloaded for free right now for compatible mobile devices from both the Apple app store and Google Play.
