The LEGO Group has finally confirmed a cryptic clue dropped months ago about the new lampshade element in 21357 Pixar Luxo Jr.
When LEGO Ideas 21357 Pixar Luxo Jr was revealed back in May, LEGO Ideas Design Lead Jordan Scott dropped a cryptic clue about the new element being 'used for something else that you would not think it would be used for.' Now, with the reveal of LEGO Icons 10366 Tropical Aquarium, that set has been confirmed.
The lampshade element appears once more, not in white as in 21357 Pixar Luxo Jr., but now in brown, forming the base of the sea anemone. It appears to fix around a base where the anemone's fronds can be attached to.

This new creative use offers a sense of where else the new element could go. With it here being used for an underwater invertebrate, another logical step would be using it in LEGO Botanical sets, perhaps as large petals to frame a more delicate interior build.
Other potential and more diverse uses for the element could be a skirt for an oversized character, or something else that we can't imagine just yet. For such a unique piece, the LEGO Group will have wanted to make sure it makes the most out of it, so keep your eyes peeled for more instances of the lampshade/anemone part.
