Eiichiro Oda, the elusive creator behind One Piece, has revealed exactly what he thinks of the recently released LEGO One Piece sets.
The LEGO One Piece theme finally launched on August 1, bringing with it with seven models based on the live-action Netflix series. The show is scheduled to return to the streaming platform sometime next year with a second season, although no specific date has been announced so far.
In the meantime, there’s still plenty for Straw Hat Pirates fans to get excited about, with today marking One Piece Day 2025. To celebrate the event, manga artist and One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda has been taking a closer look at the new LEGO models from the Netflix show, revealing what he thinks about the brick-based builds.
The video above features Oda-San being gifted a selection of LEGO One Piece sets and being genuinely impressed with the likes of 75636 Windmill Village Hut,
“I truly love LEGO sets, always have,” exclaimed Oda-San. “I’ve bought a lot for my retirement, still in their boxes.”
The One Piece creator has high praise for 75639 The Going Merry Pirate Ship, a 1,376-piece set and the signature vessel of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew. “Amazing,” said Oda-San. “The craftmanship is incredible. This is so accurate.”

When it comes to the LEGO One Piece theme’s largest model to date, 75640 The Baratie Floating Restaurant, Oda-San revealed that the build scratched an itch he’d had for a long time.
“This is the best,” Oda-San enthuses. “The kid in me is so excited about this. My dream has been fulfilled, truly. I want to display it in my room!”
This isn’t the first time that the One Piece creator has been gifted a unique LEGO set though. Earlier this year, the LEGO Group sent Oda-San a brick-built chest containing a one-of-a-kind Gomu Gomu no Mi, or Gum-Gum Fruit, to mark the theme's then imminent reveal.
