Cut through the noise of the October LEGO releases with our breakdown of everything you need to know about the most important sets.
October 1 is just around the corner, and that brings with it a host of new LEGO sets. It's not the biggest LEGO drop of the year, but it will be the drop of the biggest single LEGO set of the year. That's right, it's finally time for 75419 Death Star to hit shelves – but there's plenty more besides.
With the $1,000 UCS set dominating the LEGO community recently, here's a breakdown of everything you need to know about the most important other releases of the month.
LEGO Star Wars 40806 Gingerbread AT-AT Walker

There’s definitely something inherently appealing about LEGO Star Wars and Christmas, with the two feeling like a completely natural fit. That’s certainly true when it comes to 40806 Gingerbread AT-AT Walker, a 697-piece festive creation that stomps into view with plenty of seasonal cheer.
Priced at a reasonable £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99, the biscuit-based build looks like it’ll be a joy to assemble. Features include poseable legs, an opening cockpit with cosy interior, and a main body that boasts a fireplace and multiple holiday-themed accessories. A Gingerbread Darth Vader minifigure is included too, one that’s truly the icing on the cake, and should make 40806 Gingerbread AT-AT Walker an essential purchase for all fans of a brick-built galaxy far, far away this Christmas.
“This looks great! I’m honestly quite surprised at the $60 too! I was thinking $65-70, and the rumours had been $80! Super-excited about this, and will be getting it at some point close to release. This scale for an AT-AT is kinda neat, and it’s nice that it still fits everything. I’d pay $20 just for the Vader too, his cape is incredible! Awesome set, and I’ll be glad to get it!”

| Pros of 40806 Gingerbread AT-AT Walker | Cons of 40806 Gingerbread AT-AT Walker |
|---|---|
| Affordable price | Won’t appeal to all LEGO Star Wars fans |
| Full of festive fun | Limited seasonal set |
| Exclusive Gingerbread Darth Vader minifigure | Only one Christmas-themed minifigure |
Our verdict: A festive and affordable LEGO Star Wars treat that belongs in every fan’s Christmas stocking this year.
LEGO 40809 Festive Gingerbread House

Speaking of brick-built gingerbread... If you like your LEGO to look sort of edible, don’t let 40809 Festive Gingerbread House pass you by this holiday season. It sits somewhere roughly in the middle of LEGO gingerbread houses past and present – it’s not as big as the Winter Village set from 2019, but it’s a nice bump up from 2015’s 40139 Gingerbread House. It’s also to scale with minifigures and can swing open to reveal a full interior.
Better still, when opened, it mimics two gingerbread houses side-by-side, which means it also has the makings of a gingerbread street. If you too are now considering adjoining multiple copies for a full-on gingerbread village, please send in your ideas for what to do with all those excess Santa Claus minifigures – and do try to remember that this set isn’t actually edible.
“I dig this. Build it during Christmas season. Dismantle it after the fact and put in storage until next year. It could become a tradition to build the LEGO holiday house.”

| Pros of 40809 Festive Gingerbread House | Cons of 40809 Festive Gingerbread House |
|---|---|
| Looks good enough to eat… | ...but best not to, eh |
| Pretty beefy as these things go | Pretty expensive for the size |
| Hinged design offers a bunch of display options | Another minifigure would have been neat |
Our verdict: A tasty option for anyone who’s all-in on LEGO Xmas décor.
LEGO 40820 Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure

Cast off the shackles of endless regular Santa Claus minifigures (see 40809 Festive Gingerbread House above) and instead choose life, choose a job, choose a career, choose a really big Santa Claus minifigure. A new fit for an old model sees the LEGO Group sprinkle some festive spirit over its up-scaled minifigures in 40820 Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure, a set that’s likely to find its way into plenty of holiday décor this year.
That’s with good reason too, because at first glance, this looks to have fulfilled its brief in every way you could imagine. Red hat? Check. White beard? Check. Belt that for some reason doesn’t quite extend to the edges of his torso? Erm… check. Hope you can look past that one, because if so this one might just be the Christmas set to buy in 2025.
“Nice! Glad we’re getting the upscaled Santa—kind of a spiritual successor to the 2018 employee exclusive.”

| Pros of 40820 Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure | Cons of 40820 Up-Scaled Santa Minifigure |
|---|---|
| Almost perfectly mimics the Santa minifigure on a bigger scale | Belt printing is disappointing |
| Maintains the price tag of previous up-scaled minifigures | That’s about it to be honest. Merry Christmas! |
| Beard shaping would make a barber proud |
Our verdict: Pop it at the top of your Christmas list.
LEGO Icons 10361 Holiday Express Train

Rounding out our festive section of this round-up, it's all aboard the latest LEGO Winter Village set. The LEGO Icons set rolls back the clock to 2016 for a modern-day reimagining of the last festive locomotive with 10361 Holiday Express Train. It’s got a fresh coat of paint and a couple of new gimmicks – a polar bear and smokestack that move in turn with the wheels – but by and large this follows the same template as the nine-year-old 10254 Winter Holiday Train.
That may make it an easy pass for anyone who’s been in the game long enough to own that set, but more recent entrants to the Winter Village Collection should find a lot to love here. That said, the price could be a barrier (it’s the first bump this subtheme has experienced in half a decade at least), while the tiny 3D-printed train is a Marmite sort of piece, so no judgement here if you choose to hold on for the next one.
“There’s a fair amount of festive frustration in getting the functions to work properly, but if you can look past that – and are happy to board a locomotive that’s more toy than train – there are things to enjoy here. It’s just not as easy to recommend as recent Winter Village instalments…”
Brick Fanatics
| Pros of 10361 Holiday Express Train | Cons of 10361 Holiday Express Train |
|---|---|
| Frosty blue colour scheme feels suitably wintry | Expensive for what it is, even with the track in mind |
| Overall aesthetic and details hit all the right notes | Repetitive for veteran collectors |
| 3D-printed train might be cheating, but it’s fun to roll around | Functions don’t really work as well as hoped |
Our verdict: Fun and festive but not essential to a Winter Village collection
LEGO Ideas 21361 Gizmo

As one winner of the LEGO Ideas ‘80s IP challenge, 21361 Gizmo relies on the appeal of the 1984 Gremlins movie and based on the community's first reactions, it’s destined to be an instant hit next month. The 1,125-piece build expands on the proposed size of fan designer Fuma Terai’s submission to offer an incredible level of detail and limited, but accurate posing options.
LEGO Ideas 21361 Gizmo maintains an alternate form, too. While there’s no Rambo-style battle mode inspired by the Gremlins sequel, the increased shaping and level of detail is astounding for a LEGO character figure. LEGO Gizmo is suitably cute, accurate and with decent value for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99.
"On the shelf, it’s pure 80s joy. While not a “play set” in the traditional sense, this is an excellent display piece! Value-wise, it feels fair for what you expect to receive: a detailed, expressive model that taps into pure nostalgia.”
The Brothers Bricks
| Pros of 21361 Gizmo | Cons of 21361 Gizmo |
|---|---|
| Good value | Lackluster alternate form |
| Incredible detail | |
| An accurate character recreation |
Our verdict: Reviewers and the fans agree that 21361 Gizmo is a triumph despite the many changes made to the fan design, thanks in no small part to its adorable accuracy.
LEGO Botanicals 10374 Bouquet of Pink Roses

A near-identical copy of 10328 Bouquet of Roses, 10374 Bouquet of Pink Roses could be boring – if the first bunch of brick-built flowers wasn't so perfect. Priced at a reasonable £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99, it's yet another example of LEGO Botanicals doing what it does best: creative building techniques to beautifully render flowers out of LEGO.
With three stages of a rose blooming included in the bouquet, as well as white smaller flowers and leaves to help the pink pop, 10374 Bouquet of Pink Roses offes a softer colour palette than the original red. Delicate pieces translate the finer points of real-life rose petals to great effect.
"While not technically exciting any more, 10374 Bouquet of Pink Roses is a well-designed, beautiful and solid set.”
New Elementary
| Pros of 10374 Bouquet of Pink Roses | Cons of 10374 Bouquet of Pink Roses |
|---|---|
| Typical Botanicals creativity | Well-thought-out building techniques |
| Well thought-out building techniques | |
| Impressive authenticity to the real flowers |
Our verdict: A set so good that Botanicals did it twice, ideal for those wanting a softer colour palette of LEGO roses.
LEGO Wednesday 76785 Thing’s Apartment

76785 Thing’s Apartment expands to open much more than what meets the eye – but even what's on the surface is pretty impressive. Plenty of thought has clearly gone into the accessories to flesh out the living quarters of a disembodied hand. While the price might at first seem a bit high at £74.99 / $89.99 / €79.99 for 828 pieces, its wider appeal means it shouldn't be overlooked by LEGO fans.
While it isn't really based on any specific locations from the Wednesday Netflix show, it's a neat display model that can be repurposed into an impressively sturdy LEGO chest to appeal to anyone.
"It's LEGO finesse at its finest, and you can only hope that LEGO fans across all interests won't be put off by the mini-doll style of the set to miss out on it. Remove the Wednesday-themed accessories, and you've got a hearty chest that could easily be adapted for a LEGO Castle or Pirate display."
Brick Fanatics
| Pros of 76785 Thing’s Apartment | Cons of 76785 Thing’s Apartment |
|---|---|
| Simple but effective building techniques | Not specifically based on anything from the show |
| Nifty accessories | |
| Wider appeal for LEGO fans |
Our verdict: Not to be overlooked even if you're not a Wednesday fan.
LEGO Nintendo 72046 Game Boy

When it comes to sheer creativity, 72046 Game Boy is in a league of its own. A perfect showcase for what’s possible with a licensed LEGO set, the near 1:1 scale model allows video game fans to assemble their own non-functional version of the classic Nintendo hand-held console, right down to perfectly-placed buttons, dials and interchangeable lenticular screens.
In addition, 72046 Game Boy also comes with two brick-built Game Paks, in the shape of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and Super Mario Land Game Boy, that can be slotted into the back of the console. What’s more, the 421-piece set won’t break the bank either, with a £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 price tag ensuring the build will likely be one of this month’s must-have purchases.
“It goes without saying that I adore this set; it was a joy to build and play with, I loved nerding out about all the details, and it was so fun to photograph that I couldn’t stop taking pictures of it to start writing this article!”
Brickset
| Pros of 72046 Game Boy | Cons of 72046 Game Boy |
|---|---|
| Impressive printed and lenticular pieces | High price-to-piece count ratio |
| Near 1:1 scale replica | No light or sound functions |
| Perfect nostalgia purchase | May only appeal to some video game fans |
Our verdict: Packed with retro details, 72046 Game Boy should press all the right nostalgia buttons for those of a certain age.
LEGO Ideas 21362 Mineral Collection

LEGO Ideas 21362 Mineral Collection builds on the concept that there is truly a LEGO set for everyone. While the LEGO Ideas team could have done another IP-centric model, a castle, or a spaceship, those ideas have been built before and will continue to be released. Instead, the team rightfully decided it was time to turn their gaze towards minerals, inspired by Dario Del Frate’s project.
21362 Mineral Collection is designed for a niche, but dedicated audience. It recreates several minerals with some impressive creations on an elegant shelving unit for display purposes. It balances its niche nature with an affordable price tag compared to other LEGO Ideas models, making it much more accessible than any other build from the theme currently available. 21362 Mineral Collection costs £54.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 for 880 pieces.
"A mineral hunter who is a LEGO fan and wants to decorate his shelf filled with real stones might find something to his liking here with a nod to his two passions, but the target niche seems so small to me that I can see this box ending up being sold off very quickly everywhere once those who really wanted it have bought it.”
Hoth Bricks
| Pros of 21362 Mineral Collection | Cons of 21362 Mineral Collection |
|---|---|
| Amazing execution | Undeniably niche |
| Affordable price tag | |
| Simple but effective display build |
Our verdict: Sure to be adored by its target audience, but its limited reach may be a problem after launch.
LEGO Wednesday 76786 Morticia’s Cottage

Spinning out of Netflix’s hit Tim Burton TV show comes 76786 Morticia’s Cottage, a 1,002-piece LEGO Wednesday set that’s priced at £89.99 / $109.99 / €99.99. Based on Rosewood Cottage, as seen in Season 2, the gothic building has been recreated in all of its spooky splendour, opening up to reveal an intricate interior, thanks to three hinged wing sections.
The good news is that 76786 Morticia’s Cottage ticks both play and display boxes, giving fans plenty of options, with a brick-built Addams’ family car adding even more possibilities. Throw in mini-dolls of Bianca Barclay, Lurch, Morticia Addams and Wednesday Addams, and this is one LEGO Wednesday model that should prove to be suitably satisfying.
“If you look at 76786 Morticia’s Cottage as more of a LEGO-fied interpretation of the source material, you’ll be satisfied. If all you’re looking for is an engaging build with some creative build techniques and a gothic style, then you’ll be far more than satisfied.”
Brick Fanatics
| Pros of 76786 Morticia’s Cottage | Cons of 76786 Morticia’s Cottage |
|---|---|
| Impressive build techniques | Tricky to place mini-dolls inside |
| Good selection of mini-dolls | Translation of source material isn’t quite accurate |
Our verdict: 76786 Morticia’s Cottage uses some simple but creative building techniques to blur the line between play and display in the best possible way.
LEGO Family 41843 Family Christmas Tree

At first glance, 41843 Family Christmas Tree appears to be a slam dunk. A densely packed Christmas tree brightened up with decorations and an impressive star opens up to reveal Santa's grotto, home to a handful of unique and exclusive minifigures. However, when you look at the price, it's hard to see it as a good value deal.
41843 Family Christmas Tree will retail for £269.99 / $329.99 / €299.99, an eye-watering amount even for what amounts to an impressive set – especially one you can feasibly only display for a small portion of the year. It's more expensive than any LEGO Winter Village set, although arguably, it works better as a standalone set than anything from that collection.
“As you can imagine, putting down all of these botanical elements wasn't exactly thrilling – and I'm saying this even though I had help to build it. Even though this is a Family set, I'm not sure kids will have a lot of fun helping out with the build.”
Tiago Catarino
| Pros of 41843 Family Christmas Tree | Cons of 41843 Family Christmas Tree |
|---|---|
| Most detailed LEGO Christmas tree ever | Not as family-friendly as you might hope |
| Unique minifigures | Expensive for what you get |
| A centrepiece to come back to every year |
Our verdict: 41843 Family Christmas Tree is fun from top to bottom, but you'd be best off waiting for a sale.
LEGO Star Wars 75419 Death Star

LEGO Star Wars 75419 Death Star has a challenging task ahead of it – to fulfil the desires of fans who have been waiting for a new LEGO Death Star while offering decent value for the staggering price of £899.99 / $999.99 / €999.99. The designers behind 75419 Death Star decided to approach this challenge by offering up a cross-section of the iconic space station in what the community has been calling the Death Star slice.
75419 Death Star has been met with some criticism from fans online, but its massive size makes an undeniably impressive statement on display with 9,023 pieces – even if it’s not the full space station that many fans were expecting. The set’s many minifigures bolster its value, though its flaws become more noticeable because of its high price tag. For such a hefty price, it's hard to look past some of the glaring letdowns, while even its accompanying gift-with-purchase has been met with some disdain for a lacklustre TIE Fighter build. Still, its limited appeal means you can safely skip it without risk of FOMO.

"There's no way around it, the giant open wheel – not even a sphere – is a weird design, but it’s not that bad. Some kind of spherical structure, not even panels, but some outline of a circle is what this set is really missing. Without that, it doesn’t quite feel like a Death Star on the exterior, but the interior is incredible.”
Solid Brix Studios
| Pros of 75419 Death Star | Cons of 75419 Death Star |
|---|---|
| A unique idea | Not what some fans were expecting |
| Exclusive and long-awaited minifigures | Minifigures missing details that would have key at this price... |
| ...but can anything really justify this price? |
Our verdict: 75419 Death Star faces many challenges with its interesting idea and great execution, but that idea is simply not what many fans were expecting (or wanting) from the $1,000 space station.
