LEGO NINJAGO: Dragons Rising to take huge step this summer

LEGO NINJAGO is putting more faith in its new cast more than ever this summer, as they star in a huge set with none of the original characters.

The summer 2026 LEGO NINJAGO sets have been revealed on Recognised LEGO Fan Media Masters of Brickjitzu’s YouTube channel, and one stands out from the crowd, not just for the fact that it can be a mech or a dragon. 71868 Wyldfyre’s Transforming Dragon Mech is one of the biggest sets in the wave at 821 pieces, and includes the main villain. There's something else unusual about this set, though. It features none of the original ninja characters.

The minifigure selection in 71868 Wyldfyre’s Transforming Dragon Mech consists of only Wyldfyre, Sora, Arin, an ice monster and an acid monster. Outside of spinners and magazine gifts, there have only been a handful of LEGO NINJAGO: Dragons Rising models without any of the original ninja – Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane, Lloyd and Nya.

These have all been smaller in size and price, with the most expensive being 71833 Ras and Arin's Super Storm Jet at £44.99, $49.99, €49.99 and 510 pieces. Note that this NINJAGO model was heavily discounted for months before its retirement. They've otherwise been some of the most affordable models in their respective waves, and therefore less of a financial risk if they don't sell well.

By opting to include none of the original characters in what is likely to be one of the most expensive sets in the theme this summer, the NINJAGO team are putting more faith than ever in the new ninja. Whether Arin, Sora and Wyldfyre will be able to carry themselves in a bigger build will be interesting to see.

Sora, Arin and Wyldfyre have become more prominent in sets as Dragons Rising has continued, and 71868 Wyldfyre’s Transforming Dragon Mech is a huge step for the theme. We don't know how much the set will cost yet, or when it will be released, but it's certainly one to watch. Rumours suggest a June release, but keep an eye on Brick Fanatics for more as we get it.
