LEGO NINJAGO 2024 has a better battle pack than Star Wars

An early look at the LEGO NINJAGO January 2024 sets claims that the theme's new battle pack is better than that of LEGO Star Wars.

The upcoming 71805 Jay's Mech Battle Pack is stated to be better in terms of value than 75345 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack, but with fewer pieces. Tiago Catarino has provided a first look at the next wave of LEGO NINJAGO ahead of its release next month and notes that the £8.99 / $9.99 / €9.99 NINJAGO set is 'far better value' and 'puts Star Wars' battle packs to shame', showing it next to 75345 501st Clone Troopers Battle Pack.

That's high praise for the first LEGO NINJAGO battle pack, or at the least to be specifically named a battle pack. It includes two minifigures for the new enemy faction as well as Jay and Master Lloyd with no repeat minifigures overall. That might make it less appealing to buy multiples of, but more appealing to add on to a larger NINJAGO collection for the price of £8.99 / $9.99 / €9.99.

It's just one of several mech-centric LEGO NINJAGO sets launching on January 1 and the early video offers a closer look at the rest of the wave too.

The mech combination feature between 71806 Cole’s Elemental Earth Mech, 71807 Sora’s Elemental Tech Mech and 71808 Kai's Elemental Fire Mech is demonstrated and remember that 71817 Lloyd's Elemental Power Mech is compatible too but releases in March. It has now been removed from LEGO.com but at least we know it's on the way.

Some of the enemy builds in the 2024 sets are explored including the only vehicle for the villains in 71808 Kai's Elemental Fire Mech, which can be posed on all four limbs as well as the tree and transparent element in 71807 Sora's Elemental Tech Mech to depict the wolf mask warrior flying through the air.

It turns out that 71809 Egalt the Master Dragon comes with a giant sword that they can hold using their tail too and the middle of the dragon appears to have a saddle for a minifigure to ride.

The new minifigures are showcased as well, including Ras, Jordana and newcomer Cinder, most of which are only featured in one set so far. All of the new ninja minifigures are exclusive in some way too as while they may use repeating prints, their accessories make each one different.

The new dragon strike models are highlighted and use only a few pieces each and it will be interesting to see where the community uses these elements as they are specifically designed for the small range of sets.

These LEGO NINJAGO sets all launch on January 1, 2024, online and in stores as the second wave of LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising.
