LEGO and Netflix's history make 2025 rumour less surprising

The latest rumour for 2025 names a One Piece theme, which is less surprising when you consider the LEGO Group's extensive history with Netflix.

Relatively reliable sources now rumour that LEGO One Piece will be released in 2025, positing many models including one massive build. While this rumour should be taken with caution until official confirmation surfaces, the LEGO Group and Netflix certainly aren't strangers.

The LEGO Group has partnered with many streaming services for sets based on series, most notably including Disney+ for Star Wars and Marvel models. Their experience with Netflix is surprisingly extensive, explaining why a One Piece theme based on the live-action series may be more realistic than expected.

From the start of the partnership in 2019 to a recent mini-doll-centric collection, here's every LEGO Netflix theme leading up to the rumoured One Piece range next year.

While the LEGO Ideas 21311 Voltron set just so happens to tie into the Voltron Netflix series (but isn't specifically based on it), the start of the LEGO Group and Netflix's partnership dates back to 2019 with the LEGO Stranger Things theme.

While this is considered a theme to this day, the LEGO Stranger Things range consists of only one set, a comic-con exclusive minifigure and an additional BrickHeadz duo and keychain. Still, 75810 The Upside Down kickstarted a massive partnership for the LEGO Group that is rumoured to continue next year.

Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory

The Netflix partnership (as well as that of Dreamworks) continued with Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous sets as part of the wider Jurassic World theme. An initial wave was released in 2021 but a more recent collection launched earlier this year – based on the Chaos Theory follow-up series.

Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory were created for Netflix and both form part of the LEGO Netflix range.

Queer Eye

2021's 10291 Queer Eye – The Fab 5 Loft may not have lasted too long on shelves but it's a small but significant part of the LEGO Netflix partnership that proved the potential of 18+ builds ahead of One Piece's 75640 rumoured to be released in 2025.

Gabby's Dollhouse

Just as Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory form part of the Netflix and Dreamworks partnership, LEGO Gabby's Dollhouse sits in a similar position and started the trend of Netflix mini-dolls ahead of LEGO Wednesday earlier in 2024.

The theme has lasted a little while and while it skews towards a younger audience, it has helped showcase the potential of such partnerships for the LEGO Group.

Wednesday

The newer LEGO Wednesday theme consists of many builds focusing on a similar selection of concepts to that of LEGO Wicked – mini-dolls and brick-built figures.

As a more recent entry into the LEGO Netflix partnership, it's said to be the last step towards LEGO One Piece next year and the Netflix adaptation receiving a full LEGO theme makes the idea of LEGO One Piece much less surprising. Netflix's One Piece series is a live-action adaptation of the original anime, similar to Wednesday's continuation of The Addams Family.

We'll have to see whether or not there is any truth to the rumours of LEGO One Piece following the many other Netflix models, but in the meantime here's what is rumoured for the theme.
