Upcoming LEGO NASA set’s piece count looks to be focused in one area

There’s one section of the upcoming 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System that appears to consume most of the LEGO Icons set’s piece count.

We got our first look this week at a surprise upcoming LEGO Icons release, thanks to a copy of 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System being discovered in the wild. The 3,601-piece build seems to be a massive and detailed recreation of the real rocket, complete with MLP (Mobile Launch Platform).

Judging by the single image of 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System that's available to date, it certainly appears to be a beast of build, even if we don’t have any confirmed details so far regarding the actual size of the model.

However, the 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System's box does at least seem to suggest that a high proportion of the set’s 3,601-piece count may well be focused in one specific area. The primarily orange-coloured rocket and white boosters make up just a small part of the build, with the Mobile Launch Platform looking as if it’ll consume most of the LEGO Icons set’s elements.

This section of 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System looks similar in complexity and design to another massive LEGO Icons model, 10307 Eiffel Tower. The grey elements of the brick-built French landmark are echoed in the construction of the Mobile Launch Platform's skeletal framework, although it’s unlikely 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System will be anywhere near as tall as the 2022 set.

Despite the emphasis appearing to be shifted away from the Artemis One itself and onto its launch support structure, that level of detail and complexity may prove to be exactly what fans of space-based LEGO builds are after. With 92176 NASA Apollo Saturn V having been released back in 2020 and the LEGO Ideas set long since retired, the upcoming 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System could well be a highly-desirable replacement.

There are currently no confirmed launch details regarding 10341 NASA Artemis Space Launch System, but a previous rumour suggests that the LEGO Icons model may be arriving on May 15, priced at $259.99. Do ensure that you treat that information with speculation for now though.
