LEGO modular building hub teases more unofficial entries

Timing with the reveal of 10326 Natural History Museum, a new modular building hub is teasing more models that may be part of the collection.

While it's evident that some models have been designed to be compatible and blend with the world of the LEGO modular buildings, despite not being officially part of the LEGO Icons collection, a new modular building hub on LEGO.com suggests that there are more unofficial entries than first thought.

The hub page on LEGO.com includes a rundown of every LEGO modular building so far as well as plenty of promotion for 10326 Natural History Museum, as is to be expected. However, the end of the page features suggestions on how you can expand your street with sets beyond LEGO Icons – specifically from LEGO Marvel and Ideas.

The unofficial LEGO modular buildings from LEGO Marvel include – 76178 Daily Bugle and 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum, though the former is much different from the rest of the street. To our knowledge, this appears to be the first official acknowledgement of the existence of LEGO modular buildings beyond the collection.

However, naming LEGO Ideas alongside these LEGO Marvel modular buildings is odd at first thought as there is no set at the time of writing with nearly the same layout as the Modular Buildings Collection, as much as several projects have proposed one. In this section, the hub promotes 21330 Home Alone as well as 10325 Alpine Lodge.

The latter is likely only a reminder of the new Winter Village set and the other LEGO Icons building collection as the hub only mentions LEGO Ideas and Marvel. However, LEGO Ideas is an interesting inclusion as its scale is on par with the LEGO Modular Buildings Collection. However, it otherwise isn't compatible with the range without modification, mostly due to the lack of pavement in front of the house.

Multiple members of the online LEGO community have attempted to transform 21330 Home Alone into a modular building though the official build still isn't quite as compatible with the street as the two LEGO Marvel models.

Still, the official acknowledgement of LEGO modular buildings beyond LEGO Icons is welcome and there is now even less doubt that 76178 Daily Bugle and 76218 Sanctum Sanctorum are unofficial additions to the lengthy LEGO street – just with more superheroes than the rest.

Those planning to prepare for the release of 10326 Natural History Museum can pick up a pre-order of the model as well as five other official entries in the collection and the two LEGO Marvel models now with 40586 Moving Truck available for the remainder of today for free with orders of £160 / €180. From tomorrow, 40595 Tribute to Galileo Galilei will be available with purchases of £115 / $130 / €130.
