LEGO Minifigures Series 29 spotlight: Marine Biologist

LEGO Minifigures Series 29's range of 12 characters includes a new underwater outfit with a fresh fish piece, both of which are sure to make waves.

710529 Series 29's cast of characters features the Marine Biologist. It's not nearly the first time that the LEGO Group has explored the underwater world, and LEGO City specifically has featured many minifigures diving under the waves in wetsuits and other aquatic outfits.

The Marine Biologist in Series 29 isn't innovative in that regard, but it does have some notable inclusions for LEGO collectors to be aware of.

The minifigure comes with a new diving mask and hair element. Such minifigure masks are usually attached to helmets or the occasional ninja hood. They've been on LEGO hair before, except in DUPLO. Now, minifigures can adopt a more casual diving outfit with longer hair.

The Marine Biologist's other accessories include a two-stud printed tile with notes on the clownfish from the biologist's observations. A pen is attached to what is likely a whiteboard that can be used underwater.

An arrow underneath the clownfish drawing is attached to a label with '106' on it. That's the number assigned to Bright Light Orange by the LEGO Group, of which the clownfish is coloured. In what is more likely a coincidence, there's also a clownfish build in 10695 Creative Building Box.

The clownfish is a major innovation for LEGO fish, which have always been either made of multiple elements or the single fish piece recoloured. This new part is printed and the most specific piece for a LEGO fish to date.

The fish will also be innovative for LEGO aquariums. The LEGO Group's aquarium models at minifigure or mini-doll scale, so far, as detailed as they have been, have always been limited by the plain-looking fish inside them. This new clownfish part will add some additional variety and life to your aquariums, especially if you have multiple fish in the tank.

The Marine Biologist is just one of the 12 minifigures launching in 71052 Series 29 on May 1, 2026. You can take a closer look at the full selection by clicking here.
