LEGO Minifigures Series 29 spotlight: Trash Monster

LEGO Minifigures Series 29’s Trash Monster belongs anywhere but the trash, serving up a couple of awesome accessories alongside its recoloured LEGO VIDIYO element.

Some LEGO Collectible Minifigures are worth picking up for their accessories alone, and 71052 Series 29’s Trash Monster very much falls into that camp. Alongside its mouldy pizza box tile are two 1x1 round tiles printed with flies, and a first-ever fish skeleton, which cleverly mimics the shaping of the regular LEGO fish.

Those pieces alone are enough to make Trash Monster a day-one pickup when 71052 Series 29 launches on May 1. They’re the sort of elements that would go down very well on Pick a Brick, but are not especially likely to end up there (unless they find their way into another set), so you might in fact want to pick up a few Trash Monsters while they’re on shelves.

This Series 29 character has more to offer than just parts to litter around the less-looked-after areas of your LEGO city, though. The minifigure features head-to-toe printing on pretty much every available surface, from its opaque green melting headpiece (returning from LEGO VIDIYO’s Slime Singer, where it was used in trans-green) to its slimy, muddy and maggot-infested torso and legs.

The final surprise awaits underneath that headpiece: rather than a blank head, the LEGO Minifigures team has cooked up a unique rotting pumpkin face print on an orange head, which feels very fitting for this character and will also sit nicely outside 11367 Haunted Mansion (or any other spooky builds in your collection) when Halloween rolls around.

It may not look particularly appealing at first glance – that’s sort of the point – but the Trash Monster is likely to be high up there on many minifigure collectors’ wishlists come May 1. Maximise your chances of finding one in the wild by downloading the Brick Search app on iOS or Android. Brick Search Plus members get full use of the app’s minifigure scanner, which can read the code on the bottom of Collectible Minifigures boxes to identify who’s inside.
