LEGO design team knows we’ve been waiting for 77092 The Legend of Zelda

77092 The Legend of Zelda: The Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 may have surprised some fans, but the LEGO design team knows we’ve been waiting for the set.

The LEGO Group this week dropped a surprise reveal of 77092 The Legend of Zelda: The Great Deku Tree 2-in-1, a 2,500-piece build inspired by the legendary Nintendo video game series. The model can be pre-ordered by LEGO Insiders now, while everyone else can pick up the set when it launches on September 1, 2024 priced at £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99.

Excited fans should have plenty to look forward to when they get their hands on 77092 The Legend of Zelda: The Great Deku Tree 2-in-1, as the build includes unique minifigures, multiple new pieces and plenty of references to the original source material.

77092 The Legend of Zelda: The Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 is also the first ever LEGO set based on the iconic Nintendo game, despite numerous unsuccessful LEGO Ideas submissions having attempted to get their foot in the door ahead of a potential official release for over a decade.

Demand for a Zelda model is definitely something the LEGO Group has been aware of for many years and has even acknowledged that fact ahead of 77092 The Legend of Zelda: The Great Deku Tree 2-in-1’s arrival later this year.

"Our fans have been asking for a LEGO set based on The Legend of Zelda series for a while,” said LEGO designer Wes Talbott, “so we were delighted to work with Nintendo to create the Great Deku Tree in brick form. As a fan of the franchise, it was great to work on this set and fill it with details and references from the games. I’m also glad we managed to offer the choice to build one of two versions to appeal to many Zelda fans. I can't wait to see fans’ reaction to this set."

Talbott was himself one of many fan designers who created a LEGO Ideas submission based on The Legend of Zelda, only to see Iron Knuckle Encounter rejected at the Winter 2014 review stage. It’s therefore slightly ironic (and satisfying) that he should now be in a position to finally bear witness to a LEGO Zelda set becoming a reality after such a long wait.

77092 The Legend of Zelda: The Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 is available for Insiders members to pre-order now and launches online and in stores from September 1, priced at £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99. For more on the upcoming LEGO set, take a look at our full visual tour and gallery right here.
