LEGO Jurassic World team's Jeep pitch to Universal Pictures made use of a prototype built a decade ago, finally put to good use.
Designer Henrik Rubin Saaby shared more details about this set's development with Tiago Catarino, including how the set's pitch to Universal Pictures and Jeep was assisted by a prototype model made long before the process started.

"We launched this year, or last year, the big T. rex skeleton, and it was kind of the start of Jurassic [Park / World] for adults, and then we had the Mike Psiaki prototype of the jeep standing around."
Images of that concept model have not been shared, though we at least know that model was created a decade ago, long before development on
"We thought it would be nice to show this to Universal [Pictures] and Jeep because it would be a good time to do this, and of course, they loved it. It was something that we wanted, and they wanted, and they were happy with what we did."
The LEGO Group's extensive partnership with Jeep and Universal Pictures, which extends beyond LEGO Jurassic World, likely helped with the pitch, too. Having a ready-made build to show to the partners certainly won't have hurt their chances, though. The only other official LEGO Jurassic Park Jeeps are in 76958 Dilophosaurus Ambush and 76960 Brachiosaurus Discovery from 2023.
