LEGO Ideas Tower Chess moves to checkmate with 10K supporters

The latest LEGO Ideas submission to successfully reach the hallowed 10,000 supporters mark is the winning Tower Chess design.

The first LEGO Ideas review of 2024 continues to grow on a near-weekly basis, with more fan-designed submissions regularly being added to the line-up of sets currently in competition with each other. Most recently we saw Danielbradleyy’s My Neighbor Totoro join the list of builds battling it out to become physical releases at some point and it’s now joined by yet another impressive creation.

Tower Chess is the brainchild of Ferbrick1 and is a departure from the designer’s previous vehicle-based models. At first glance the construct may appear to be just a straightforward brick-built chess set, but there’s definitely more to the concept than that.

As well as featuring a chessboard and all of the pieces required to play the game, the board can also be folded around a larger tower structure for handy storage. A series of platforms inside the build can then be used for placing the pieces on and the closed design features battlements on the top of the model, plus a handle for carrying. 

Tower Chess joins 21 other models in the first LEGO Ideas review of 2024, with the results of the judging stage due to be announced later this year.
