Rumoured details offer more clues about what a future LEGO Ideas set could look like and when it could be available to buy.
LEGO Orient Express made it into the first 2022 review stage and was later confirmed to be officially joining the LEGO Ideas theme. Now, as reported by Promobricks, the LEGO Ideas set could be on its way in November, 2023. If true, this should mean that we'd get some official promotion of the railway set in October.
For now, other rumoured details place it slightly smaller than the original design, as Promobricks also reports that it will be made from 2540 bricks, 455 fewer than in the fan design from LEt.sGO. This is still a sizeable build, however, so we'd hope that enough of the authentic details are carried through into the final product.
For any LEGO train fans, then, this is sure to be an exciting release, with enough room to pay special attention to wheels and interior details. Plus, the Orient Express is believed to be built to a scale to work on brick-built rails, although it's unclear how much of a rail system will be included in the set.
The more rails are included, the pricier the end product would be, of course – and Promobricks claims the model will weigh in at a staggering €299.99. Still, having a working LEGO rail set on this scale would be a dream for many fans of the locomotive.
For now, we'll have to take this news and anything else we hear about LEGO Orient Express with a pinch of salt until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group, presumably in a few months time.
