LEGO Ideas weathers the storm with 10K Meteorological Observatory

Meteorological Observatory is the latest LEGO Ideas fan submission to make it into the hallowed 10K club, successfully joining the second review of 2025.

It’s been a very busy week for the LEGO Ideas program, with multiple fan-designed models all managing to drum up 10K supporters each and joining the line-up of builds currently sitting pretty in the second review of 2025.

Now it’s the turn of Meteorological Observatory, a 3,609-piece submission created by member Baron von Barron that measures 29cm tall, 54cm wide and 25cm deep. The LEGO Ideas model features a propelled telescopic dome and material ropeway, a central drive unit with gearbox, floating viewing platform, various measuring devices, a kitchen with sitting area and a falconry with shelter.

In addition, Meteorological Observatory boasts an impressive minifigure selection in the shape of an observatory director, two scientists, two employees, a photographer, drone operator, electrician, mechanic, falconer and wanderer, as well as a number of animal figures.

The isolated mountaintop facility also includes some notable functionality, with the model’s gearbox allowing builders to position the telescopic dome and material ropeway as they see fit, plus there’s even a lock mechanism for the basement’s trapdoor too.

There’s still some wait ahead for those 10K supporters hoping to see Meteorological Observatory become a fully-fledged LEGO Ideas set though, with the results of the second review of 2025 not due until sometime later this year.
