LEGO Icons 10312 Jazz Club includes a magical minifigure first

Included amongst the eight characters available with the upcoming LEGO Icons 10312 Jazz Club is a magical minifigure first.

A new LEGO Modular Buildings Collection set was revealed earlier today, with the upcoming 10312 Jazz Club due to arrive in just over two weeks. The latest addition to the LEGO Icons theme features a three-storey construction, packed with details and eight distinctive minifigures.

As one might expect, the inclusion of a jazz singer, drummer, bassist (with new double bass element) and drummer would seem obvious enough considering the Club’s primary function. Therefore the appearance of a magician minifigure in the set seems a slightly odd choice, even if the character is supposedly there to perform a warm-up magic show before the jazz band takes to the stage.

What is remarkable about the inclusion of this character in the upcoming Icons set is that she also represents the very first female LEGO magician minifigure ever released. In fact there have actually only been two stage magician minifigures created to date, the first appearing in LEGO Collectible Minifigures 8683 Series 1 in 2010 and the second being a rare blister pack item given away free at a LEGO Brand Retail Manager’s Conference in 2017.

As befits a magician, the new minifigure included with 10312 Jazz Club has a black top hat and white rabbit accessories, and we’re assuming she may have a wand tucked away somewhere too. In addition to performing a warm-up show for the audience, we suspect performing the classic sawing someone-in-half magic trick will be fairly simple for this character, considering how minifigures are put together…

10312 Jazz Club will be launching on January 1, 2023 and retail for £199.99 / $229.99 / €229.99.
