LEGO House launches new exhibition of fan-built models from around the world

LEGO House has selected 15 fan builders to showcase in a new exhibition in Billund that plays host to builds from around the world.

Billund's LEGO House has various exhibitions all about the world of LEGO, including the Masterpiece Gallery, where work from fan builders has been showcased since 2017. Now, the LEGO Group has selected 15 people from all over the world to have their builds featured in a new exhibition, available to view from September 27.

Designers come from Australia, China, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, South Korea, the UK, the US, and Vietnam and their builds have been gathered in one gallery on the top floor of the LEGO House. Many builders, like Briton Victoria Worsley, have got multiple builds in the gallery. In her case, that's a 1950s-style diner and a house, playing home to LEGO Belville figures.

“I still can’t believe my builds will be exhibited at LEGO House," said Victoria, an avid LEGO builder for the last nine years. "It feels like a dream come true. In my models, I draw inspiration from older LEGO themes, particularly those originally designed to appeal to girls, like Belville. I am extremely proud to have been selected to exhibit, and I hope that my work will inspire others, but especially girls and women to start building too.”

The builds featured in LEGO House were carefully selected by a team of brick-building experts, including LEGO House’s own Master Builder, Stuart Harris.

"The LEGO fan community continually inspires us with their creativity and technical skill, showcasing the limitless possibilities of the LEGO brick," he said. "In our selection process, we evaluate the overall theme, nice usage of elements, colour, storytelling, details, and humour. We also attend LEGO fan conventions across Europe, the USA, and Asia each year."

The youngest builder feature is American Roldan Grace, aged just 19 years old. He has been a LEGO fan since the age of our and specialises in architectural models, animals, and faces. His builds at LEGO House include a large Knight on Horseback model, made up of over 11,000 bricks, as well as a Scarlett Macaw and a Wandering House.

With builds coming from all over the world, some builders chose to incorporate their culture into their builds. Donny Chen lives in Australia and designed a golden dragon constructed from almost 7,000 pieces to commemorate the Lunar Year of the Dragon, drawing on his Chinese heritage.

"Every new build is a chance to learn something new, and I really enjoy tackling different challenges with LEGO bricks," said Donny. "For me, it’s the variety and overcoming obstacles that make building with LEGO bricks so much fun."

All 15 LEGO exhibitors personally transported their intricate and delicate models to Billund and will work together with Stuart Harris and the LEGO House team to install their builds in the Masterpiece Gallery, ahead of the public being able to come and see the builds for themselves.
