LEGO GWP sells out in the UK – but not the one you might expect

One of the two LEGO gifts-with-purchase previously available has sold out in the UK, but it's not what you might have expected.

Buying LEGO Icons 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire will earn you not one, but two GWPs in most locations apart from the UK right now, with the set-exclusive gift of 40671 The Lord of the Rings: Sméagol & Déagol and 40764 Easter Bunny Surprise, which comes with all purchases over £70 / $75 / €70.

However, the latter has now sold out in the UK, ahead of its scheduled departure tonight at midnight. Those in the US and Europe still have a few more hours to pick up both GWPs but it's not what most LEGO fans would have expected to sell out first.

While the exclusive GWP for the last LEGO The Lord of the Rings set, 10333 Barad-dûr, sold out within hours, it doesn't seem like the same can be said for 40761 Sméagol and Déagol. Admittedly, the LEGO Group did fumble the launch of the 10354 The Shire but not to the extent that we'd expect it to impact sales too heavily, with the set available to buy complete with its GWP within a few hours.

Fans may be less keen to buy 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire, with the community already raising major issues with the price ahead of its launch, or the LEGO Group might have increased the amount of GWPs made available to cater to LEGO The Lord of the Rings fans for longer. Whatever the reason, if you're still wanting to pick up both 10354 The Lord of the Rings: The Shire and its exclusive GWP, there's still time to do so.
