LEGO offers new Wicked collab tease as full film trailer arrives

A first full trailer for the upcoming Wicked movie has been released, followed by a new collab tease from the LEGO Group’s social media account.

The first of two new Wizard of Oz prequel movies is due for release later this year, with Universal Pictures’ Wicked arriving on big screens in the US on November 27, 2024. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the pair of films will adapt the stage musical of the same name, with the upcoming movie version starring Cynthia Erivo as the future Wicked Witch of the West and Ariana Grande as Glinda Upland, eventually to be known as Glinda the Good.

Following a brief teaser earlier this year, Universal Pictures has now released a first full trailer for Wicked, revealing much more about the film and its colourful cast of characters. A post on the company’s Twitter account to promote the movie was then swiftly followed by a cryptic reply from the LEGO Group stating, ‘Something wicked this way comes.'

This would in fact be the second such response from the LEGO Group connected to the film, following a similar tweet earlier this year that was accompanied by a green heart emoji. If the rumours are to be believed, both social media posts may well prove to be hints of a full LEGO Wicked theme arriving at some point in 2024.

According to one recent report, a previously rumoured LEGO theme codenamed Bright is in fact based on Wicked, with four possible sets ranging in price from $29.99 to $89.99 due to arrive on shelves October 1.

However, all such rumours remain pure speculation for now until otherwise officially confirmed by the LEGO Group.
