The LEGO Group’s Le Mans Peugeot building challenge is coming together

An update on the LEGO Group’s 24-hour endurance build at Le Mans reveals the life-size Peugeot model is starting to come together.

In an announcement yesterday, it was revealed that the LEGO Group and Peugeot would be joining forces at the Centenary 24 Hours of Le Mans for an epic building challenge. To celebrate 100 years of the endurance racing event, designers would be attempting to construct a life-size LEGO Technic 42156 Peugeot 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar in less than, yes, 24 hours.

The challenge is currently taking place next to the classic Circuit de la Sarthe track at the Peugeot Sport stand in the fan village, where 12 design, engineering and building specialists from the LEGO team in Kladno, Czech Republic are working round the clock to complete the 11:1 scale model.

The LEGO Group’s Instagram account has posted a new update on how the build is coming together, revealing that the 626,392-piece brick-built vehicle is being assembled using 720 Hyper-elements – upscaled versions of regular Technic elements. Work has been continuing throughout the night and into the next morning, with roughly half of the model already completed.

The chequered flag will be waved on the event at 19:00 CEST on June 10th, with live updates on how the life-size 42156 Peugeot 9X8 24H Le Mans Hybrid Hypercar is coming together provided by the LEGO Group’s social media platforms.
