LEGO Group and Comic Relief launch Build the Change challenge

As part of this year’s Red Nose Day activities, the LEGO Group and Comic Relief are challenging creative kids to design the school of the future.

Red Nose Day will be celebrating 40 years of giving and giggling this year, with a variety of events, activities and a big night of comedy TV planned. As part of the celebrations, the LEGO Group will be partnering with Comic Relief once again, this time for a unique challenge for kids to win big prizes.

Creative children between the ages of five and 12 are being encouraged to design and submit their ideas for what schools of the future could look like 40 years from now and how they would work. A handy activity PDF can be downloaded for free for those wanting to enter the competition, one that gives facts on schools of the past and suggestions for what they might be like in 2065.

Kids can then make their own designs using LEGO bricks, pens, pencils or whatever supplies they have to hand, with teachers, parents or guardians required to take a photograph of the completed creation for submission. Every entry to the Build the Change challenge will automatically be entered into a draw, with the chance to win one of 40 LEGO kits for their school.

In addition, one lucky winner chosen by the judges will also receive a cash prize of £2,000 for their school and a Build the Change LEGO model, although there are no details available as to exactly what the set may be.

The Build the Change competition will close on May 6, 2025, so you’ll need to ensure you’ve submitted your entry by then, and full details for the challenge can be found right here.
