A stunning but challenging skeletal creation with seemingly narrow appeal makes for the most perplexing LEGO Fortnite set yet.
LEGO Fortnite's first four sets have proven diverse, eschewing minifigures in all but one, and 77072 Peely Bone demonstrates the wisdom in this choice. While Fortnite fans may want as many minifigures as they can, everyone should give 77072 Peely Bone a chance for the build experience alone.

LEGO Fortnite is nothing if not diverse

LEGO Fortnite's diversity in its first sets is astounding and it's not hard to see why the design team wanted to keep as many minifigures as they could in a single set. This design decision allows the rest of the models to explore different yet familiar concepts, including a highly-detailed banana humanoid with half its insides on display.
The LEGO Group's latest foray into big-budget display figures is an undeniable success in terms of the build using a great manner of simple and complex techniques in a model that is a genuine challenge to put together. That only means that it's incredibly satisfying when you snap everything in place though. Despite the fruitful appearance, 77072 Peely Bone's anatomy is ripped straight from the Fortnite outfit and it's surprisingly in-depth, befitting of the Halloween season. Everything matches up faithfully with the Fortnite character, which fans are sure to appreciate, but it's wacky and wonderful enough to draw in a wider audience too.
A triumph of LEGO figure design

The LEGO Fortnite designers have gone to great lengths to ensure that 77072 Peely Bone can entice anyone, but it's still undoubtedly specific to the Fortnite community. First impressions are going to be all too crucial for this build, which is tied for the most expensive Fortnite set at the time of writing. As brilliant as 77072 Peely Bone is, going up against the only LEGO Fortnite minifigures (in 77073 Battle Bus) for the same price is no easy task, even though this model is much better value from a price-per-piece perspective.
With any luck, this figure will find its legs and prove to everyone that it's one of the most astounding brick-built sculptures to come out of Billund in recent years, showcasing the diversity and potential of LEGO Fortnite. It would be a shame if this was the last LEGO Fortnite figure build as there's a vast catalogue of characters to cover that have just as much potential as Peely Bone.
