LEGO Formula 1 blind boxes rumours suggest something unexpected

LEGO Formula 1 blind boxes might not be minifigures at all, if the latest online rumours can be believed.

Update: DaveBricks1995 has come out as a false source of information and this rumour is now reported by a.clay.brick to not be accurate. The rumoured Formula 1 CMF series is instead said to be akin to the old-school LEGO racers as originally reported.

Instagram user a.clay.brick reports via DaveBricks, thought to be the first source to cover recent LEGO Star Wars rumours, that the LEGO Formula 1 blind boxes, originally said to be something like the old-school LEGO racers, might be doing something new. Apparently, the blind boxes won't include any minifigure elements but will instead be made up half by microscale cars, like the LEGO Speed Champions polybags, and half by brick-built team helmets on small stands.

If these are still released within the LEGO Collectible Minifigures theme, it'll be a real departure for the theme, seeing as there won't be anything minifigure-related included in the set. If its blind boxes released outside of LEGO CMFs, it could mean that there will still be a Collectible Minifigure series on the way in addition to these brick-built cars and helmets.

It's certainly one way to navigate around the need to have minifigures based on every 2025 racer, some seats of which aren't even filled yet. It also brings it back to the most universal part of Formula 1: the cars themselves and offers a more long-term display piece that won't become outdated as soon as a driver switches teams or retires.

Of course, take these rumours with the usual pinch of salt. We won't know for sure what the LEGO Group has planned for its Formula 1 partnership until an official reveal, perhaps as soon as November 20, when the countdown on the Formula 1 landing page on LEGO.com ends.
