LEGO Fantastic Four 2025 set rumoured to be based on movie

After a rollercoaster of rumours about the LEGO Marvel Fantastic Four 2025 set, the reported model has received a promising update.

The reliable Instagram user a.clay.brick via Boo-urns states that 76316 Galactus vs The Fantastic Four will be based on the upcoming movie rather than the team as they appear in the comics. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is scheduled to be released on July 25, 2025, and 76316 Galactus vs The Fantastic Four is currently rumoured for April, which aligns with the usual release schedule for sets based on films.

Early looks at everyone on the team (aside from a proper look at Galactus) has been revealed as so far they follow the comic designs adequately so hopefully the rumoured Fantastic Four minifigures and the likely brick-built Galactus will be decent stand-ins for LEGO Marvel Comics displays.

Speaking of minifigures, it's also stated in the new rumour that the Thing will be depicted as a standard minifigure instead of a bigfig or brick-built figure. Artwork for the movie has him at about the same size as standard minifigures, instead of being quite as large as the Hulk. As such, a bigfig might have been too big, despite this being how the character has been depicted in LEGO games and a recent movie.

Most notably, the rumour initially claimed that this would be the only LEGO Super Heroes set (from either Marvel or DC) based on a 2025 movie, but an update to the report now adds that there's at least a chance for sets based on the Superman movie coming next year too.
