LEGO Editions World Cup Trophy is a win with Lionel Messi

Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has picked up yet another addition to his football trophy case in the shape of an upcoming LEGO Editions set.

The LEGO Group is getting behind this year’s upcoming FIFA World Cup tournament with two football-based builds, both of which will be released next month. Ahead of the massive sporting event kicking off on June 11, superstar forward Lionel Messi has given his thumbs-up to 43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy, adding the model to his own impressive awards collection.

The Inter Miami CF player took to Instagram to show off his completed LEGO Editions set, with the 1:1 build boasting the most number of gold-coloured pieces in a single set, including both pearl gold and drum-lacquered gold elements.

Lionel proudly posted ‘La terminamos’ (We finished it) on social media, although it’s not clear if 43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy was constructed with assistance from one of his three children or not.

Replying to the post, the LEGO Group noted that the LEGO Editions model was ‘Another one for the trophy case,’ a potential subtle nod to the various awards the Argentine great has collected in his career so far, including being part of his national team’s FIFA World Cup 2022 win.

43020 FIFA World Cup Official Trophy launches on March 1, 2026, alongside a second LEGO Editions set in the shape of 43019 Football. Rumours suggest that Lionel Messi himself may also appear in a couple of his own LEGO sets sometime this year, although that’s yet to be officially confirmed so far.
