LEGO designer dives deep into the new 10349 Happy Plants

Following their official reveal earlier today, the LEGO designer behind 10349 Happy Plants has explained the concept and process behind the build.

Two new LEGO Botanicals sets have been officially revealed, including the small and affordable 10349 Happy Plants, which is notably the first LEGO Botanicals set not to specifically target fans 18 and older. Following these reveals, the LEGO designers behind the sets will occasionally share some interesting insights into the build online, and that's exactly what's happened with the new 10349 Happy Plants.

"These planter pals bring a playful energy to the LEGO Botanicals collection," writes Senior Model Designer Aaron Newman on Instagram. 10349 Happy Plants is one of the theme’s first products meant for kids (and kids-at-heart!) ages nine and up.

"I enjoyed working on such 'realistic' baby plants, and then juxtaposing them with cute, cartoony containers. Plus, you can swap the plants (a pilea and a dracaena) between the pots and uncover their itsy-bitsy roots!

"We spent a long time on the team choosing just the right colours, and refining just the right expressions for the planters’ faces. I just love their derpy cuteness!"

Given the aim to specifically target a younger audience with 10349 Happy Plants, it helps to explain the subject matter of the upcoming set. The black box design remains, despite the age range being lower than every other LEGO Botanicals set. Such a uniform design was originally introduced to make it easier for adults to select LEGO sets ideal for them, but this no longer seems to be a concern.

Whatever the case may be, LEGO Botanicals 10349 Happy Plants is a unique entry in the range and will be released on June 1, 2025, alongside 10348 Japanese Red Maple Bonsai Tree.
