With the reveal of LEGO 40955 Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel, the two Danish companies have revived a long-running collaboration.
The LEGO Group today officially revealed 40955 Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel, a 1,516-piece set that recreates the world’s first large green methanol-enabled ship. While the model appears to have seemingly sailed out of nowhere, the upcoming build does in fact add to an existing collection of collaborative sets that date all the way back to 1974.
LEGO and Maersk initially came together over four decades ago for the release of 1650 Maersk Line Container Ship, a 220-piece brick-built recreation that was the first of what would become four more oceangoing vessels to date.

The LEGO theme then lay dormant for six years, emerging once more in the ’80s with 1651 Maersk Line Container Lorry and 1552 Maersk Line Container Truck, followed by 1831 Maersk Line Container Lorry in 1995.
Fast forward to 2004 and the sporadic collaboration was back, this time in the shape of the 988-piece 10152 Maersk Line Container Ship, which was then superseded by the 990-piece 10155 Maersk Container Ship and 1,234-piece 10219 Maersk Container Train in 2011.
The theme popped up again one last time in 2014 with what is still the largest set created by the two Danish companies, 10241 Maersk Line Triple-E, a 1,518-piece build that ultimately proved to be the forerunner for the upcoming 40955 Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel.

Of note in previous sets is the use of a specific shade of bricks known as Maersk Blue, which the shipping company has trademarked. However, it appears that next month’s 40955 Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel has instead opted to go with medium azure as its primary colour scheme, which certainly seems to be an unusual choice, plus it’s the only such set to date that doesn’t come with any minifigures in the box.
You’ll be able to check out 40955 Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel for yourself when the LEGO model launches on March 1, 2026, priced at £139.99 /$149.99 / €149.99.
