LEGO CITY is in a very interesting spot, creatively speaking, with a remarkable amount of variety currently on offer across the range. That being said, it’s a challenging theme to properly get into due to some rather high prices.
40578 Sandwich Shop comes in as a welcome gift-with-purchase then, for offering a fun glimpse into exactly what makes LEGO CITY so appealing right now, and at a reasonable qualifying purchase amount.
The set depicts a little kerbside sandwich kiosk, complete with section of raised path/road, and a delivery person with bike and helmet. The two minifigures included are similarly-themed but in a way that either could serve as the customer in the set’s little scenario, or both could be busy at work making and taking sandwiches to customers elsewhere in LEGO CITY.
40578 Sandwich Shop is a cute little build without being too much of a challenge, but interesting enough that it’s not over-simplified. Indeed, it ties so nicely into the wider LEGO CITY sets that it hardly feels like a gift-with-purchase at all.
There’s value and play to be found in 40578 Sandwich Shop, for those already knee deep in LEGO CITY or those looking for a taste of what’s so great and fresh about the long-lasting theme in 2022.
