The LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 5 final set designs will be revealed soon, but two seem to have been teased early online.
The official BrickLink Instagram account has been promoting their Build Madness tournament recently, pitting BrickLink employees against one another for a chance at victory (and bragging rights). Aside from being a fun way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the platform, two of the most recent posts for the event on Instagram should catch your eye.
We know that the reveal of the LEGO BrickLink Series 5 final set designs is coming in May and both ThatOneGuySteve's Antique Shop and Mictur's Popcorn Wagon have been used to promote the Build Madness event – only their models aren't quite the same as the fan designs.
The Popcorn Wagon appears to be lacking the printing on the popcorn buckets as well as a different build for the lamp post to the right, indicating that this is the final set design for Mictur's model.
Notably, Mictur didn't provide any physical images of the model in their fan design and may not have been able to provide the BrickLink team with a copy of their build for this photoshoot. That's not to say that this is certainly the final look for the upcoming Series 5 set.
The Antique Shop is cut off in the thumbnails but is easier to identify as a changed build with a taller Antique Shop sign decoration in the window than the physical build from ThatOneGuySteve and a different minifigure than was proposed in the original submission. There's no confirmation that this is the final set design, but there are notable differences compared to the pitched submission. The rear wheel arches (in grey) on the truck are a different element entirely, too.
Take these designs with caution for now while we wait for the May 1 reveal event for the BrickLink Designer Program Series 5 final set looks, and it will be interesting to see whether or not this was an early look after all.
