LEGO BrickLink closes its online marketplace in 35 countries today

Despite a vocal response from the LEGO community, today marks the rescheduled closure of BrickLink's online marketplace in a total of 35 countries.

When BrickLink announced last year that its secondary marketplace would be shuttering its services in a number of countries on December 12, the reaction from the wider LEGO community was immediate and extremely vocal. Following the surprising news, Head of BrickLink Steven Lee then issued an apology and a revised closure date, one that has now finally rolled around.

BrickLink stores in 35 countries will cease to operate as of today, January 31, 2026, with the original deadline extended in order to give sellers more notice before the closure occurred. In addition, fees for any affected sellers in those countries have been removed for November, December and January.

Those affected territories include South Africa, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, Peru, Argentina, Vietnam and may other countries, all of which will no longer be able to access BrickLink’s online marketplace as of today.

“Every builder, buyer and seller matters to us,” Steven posted earlier this year, “but we needed to make tough decisions as operating in numerous regions presents greater complications as we plan significant upgrades to BrickLink.com. While these closures will affect a small percentage of BrickLink’s global activity, we understand the impact that this will have on the community in these countries.”

Reactions from the LEGO fan community to the announcement has been understandably passionate, with one seller labelling the decision as ‘heartbreaking’ and going on to say, “I’ve been selling on BrickLink here in Brazil for more than 10 years now. So much love and sweat for no recognition and not even time to plan something else. And I thought the LEGO takeover was supposed to be a good thing.”
