LEGO Botanicals 11506 Rocking Plants is the ideal sequel set

LEGO Botanicals 11506 Rocking Plants introduces a pair of new pals for 10349 Happy Plants, and it’s a shame not all sequels are this great.

10349 Happy Plants was one of the most pleasant surprises of 2025’s LEGO portfolio, taking what was previously considered to be an adult-centric theme and delivering a set that would appeal to younger fans. In the process it added some fun and whimsy to an otherwise adult-leaning theme, and here to repeat that same trick is 11506 Rocking Plants.

10349 Happy Plants is an excellent model, as we stated last year. It's teeming with charm, character, customisation potential, and builds that are both challenging and approachable. Following up such a set is no easy feat, but somehow the LEGO Botanicals designers have done so while ensuring that the second entry isn’t too similar. That set is 11506 Rocking Plants.

As far as sequel sets go, there has never been anything quite as simple but lovable as 11506 Rocking Plants. It follows a similar formula to 10349 Happy Plants while taking the opportunity to innovate where it can.

The online LEGO community has been quick to reimagine 10349 Happy Plants in various ways, from super-buff figures to warriors with swords and other accessories. By contrast, the LEGO Group's in-house attempt at innovating on the character-based plant pots is to make them rock.

It's a genius move from the design team, avoiding any over-complication of the concept while adding some much-needed interactivity. That's all without raising the affordable price any higher, too.

The two plant pot characters can rock forward and backwards or side to side. It adds a playful nature to the builds, which goes well with the personality-filled face prints on the tiles. The characters are named Lumi, the green pot with the delosperma, and Ellie, the pink pot with the echeveria. The instructions do a good job of introducing these characters and their respective personalities. It's part of what makes this now-series of sets special, encouraging you to collect them all and unite the group.

The builds for the pots are as strong as they were last time in 10349 Happy Plants, with nothing major to amend and a uniform design featuring pastel colours. The plant models themselves are well-made, but quite repetitive to build. The nature of these specific plants means that such repetition was inevitable, but no less annoying.

The echeveria has a particularly fun appearance thanks to the flexible element, bouncing from side to side as the character is rocked. Rest assured, the plants catch the light perfectly too. Feel free to set these characters up by your window, shining at sunset: that's exactly when the above photos were taken.

Those not interested in the rocking can simply remove the bumps on the bottom of each build. They then sit flat to match the last LEGO Botanicals model in this range. We'd suggest giving the rocking feature a try, though.

Just like 10349 Happy Plants, you're free to mix up the two floral arrangements between the colourful pots, drastically changing the appearance of these characters. They don't fit one pot better than the other, and the optional customisation is a joy, especially if you have the first set.

You can also mix up the models in 10349 Happy Plants and 11506 Rocking Plants between one another, creating entirely new arrangements to decorate your home. Truly, the best part of this sequel set is that the four characters can all hold hands in a line.

It's hard to find anything to challenge or overly negative in 11506 Rocking Plants, just like its predecessor. The LEGO Botanicals design team have somehow followed up on last year's surprise hit with another legendary entry for this ever-blossoming theme.

They lose some of the surprise value that 10349 Happy Plants benefited from purely because they are a sequel, but you'd still struggle to find a follow-up LEGO model that is quite this good. Considering the relatively low cost of £17.99 / $22.99 / €19.99 as well, you can't afford to miss 11506 Rocking Plants.
