Early LEGO Art 31211 Macaw Parrots review says set has an ‘'80s vibe’

Apparently there’s an ‘'80s vibe’ to an upcoming LEGO Art set, at least according to an early review of 31211 Macaw Parrots.

A potential new LEGO Art subtheme was revealed yesterday, with 31211 Macaw Parrots due for release on January 1, 2024. The 644-piece set will be priced at £44.99 / $59.99 / €49.99 and include frameless wall art of two brick-birds, one perched on a section of flowery branch and the other paused mid-flight.

31211 The Fauna Collection – Macaw Parrots would appear to be following in the footsteps of the LEGO Botanical Collection, with the first of what could be more animal-based sets. The potential for a full menagerie of similar models is certainly there, but we suspect the success of this initial release will ultimately steer the future direction of The Fauna Collection.

Ahead of the LEGO Art set’s release, BricksFanz has taken an early look at 31211 Macaw Parrots, revealing what the building process is like and how satisfyijng the completed models are. The review notes that unlike other LEGO Art sets, the upcoming release ‘used a lot of bricks and slopes to create the shapes of each bird' and that ‘the branch with the yellow parrot edges into the realms of LEGO Botanical Collection sets'.

BricksFanz goes on to say that of the builds in 31211 Macaw Parrots, the yellow bird is the simplest to construct but ‘suffers from a noticeable discrepancy in the colour of the pale yellow elements’. The review goes on to say, ‘It’s not as noticeable from a distance, so if they are hung on the wall, you can’t tell, but up close the different shading of some of the bricks is obvious.’

On a more positive note, the pink parrot comes out on top, with the bird's construction hiding its connection points and offering more definition. Both parrots can be attached to a wall using Technic hooks and overall 31211 Macaw Parrots is said to be an ‘interesting set,’ one that ‘has an '80s vibe to it… due to the colouring of the parrots'.
