An upcoming LEGO gift-with-purchase paying homage to a classic writer has been confirmed in the shape of 40690 Tribute to Jules Verne’s Books.
The LEGO Group has recently revealed listings for two upcoming gift-with-purchase sets, although there's still no confirmation regarding when either 40688 Trophy Award or 40689 Firework Celebrations will be available.
In addition, details of a third LEGO GWP are now available, which seem to confirm a previous rumour regarding the model. The official Building Instructions page includes a listing for 40690 Tribute to Jules Verne’s Books, but that’s all we have to go on at this stage. There are no images of the GWP or any information regarding a potential piece count, spending threshold or release date.
A recent rumour suggested that 40690 Tribute to Jules Verne’s Books may arrive on June 21, 2024, although that remains speculation for now. The upcoming set is said to come with 351 pieces and features a microscale diorama of an open book that has a black train crossing a bridge, a hot air balloon and the Nautilus submarine.
If that proves to be true, then the GWP model may well be referencing such classic Jules Verne books as Around the World in Eighty Days and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. In addition, 40690 Tribute to Jules Verne’s Books is also said to come with the first-ever minifigure of the French writer.
